Activity 1:

Language & literacy / Fine motor skills: Playdough letters
Materials: Playdough
Beginning: Tell your child that today we are going to use playdough to make our first letter.
Middle: Give a piece of playdough to your child and have a piece for yourself. Imitate your child’s actions and use vocabulary: straight, curve, roll, squeeze
End: Give your child 3 minutes warning to end the activity.
Duration: 10 minutes


Extension: Let your child make all the letters in his/her name, both upper and lower case.

Brain Break activity:




Activity 2:

Science / Creative Art: Aluminum foil sculpture
Materials: Aluminum foil
Beginning: Tell your child that today we will sculpt the foil into something. Describe the word ‘sculpture’: an object that is made by molding, bending, twisting materials into something (model it).  
Middle: Have a piece of foil for yourself and a piece for your child. Talk about the texture, see both sides of foil and hear the sound. Use vocabulary: shiny, flat, rough, smooth, squeeze, twist, press, fold, bend, sculpt
End: Your child may sculpt. Encourage him/her to describe what he/she made. Give 3 minutes warning to end the activity.
Duration: 15 minutes
                                 

Extension: Your child may paint the foil using paint brush or cotton bud.
